Fashion sculpture for the Madison Avenue BID’s “Hemlines from Skylines,” an outdoor public art exhibition in collaboration with the BFA Design department at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. The installation featured 14 fashion sculptures inspired by New York architecture, from classic monuments to modern additions to the ever-growing landscape of the city.
My sculpture, which strikes a pose and takes a nod to the Radio City Rockettes, focuses on the interior of the Music Hall. Taking inspiration from the opulent Art Deco auditorium, I constructed a dress with a variety of materials akin to those used in the actual construction of the music hall. The sculpture features over 7,500 Swarovski crystals, Dutch gold leafing, and a number of rich fabrics, hanging in ribboned swags like the iconic curtain.
Hemlines From Skylines was on view on Madison Avenue through NYFW 2019 and then installed during the holiday season at 75 Rockefeller Plaza.
