This past season, I had the distinct pleasure of designing the visual identity system and branding campaign for the Xavier High School Dramatics Society’s production of the musical classic Sweeney Todd. I started working on the show as a creative consultant, collaborating with designers and artists across various fields, including lighting and set design, to bring to life the vision of the director. Musical theatre has always been a passion of mine, and I was extremely happy to work on this project.
My goals for the design were simple: to convey the dark themes of the iconic show while introducing a modern vibe to echo the production’s modern staging. I pitched a number of design sketches, and we ultimately decided on this flourished gothic lettering.
A variety of collateral marketing materials were printed for distribution on the campus and at the partnering schools. To complete the new and more-professional rebrand, I had the design printed on new officially-licensed Playbills from Playbill, Inc.
